Because light pollution obscures the stars over much of the country - more than two-thirds of Americans live where they can no longer see the Milky Way - our culture has grown sadly isolated from the perspective- granting wonders of the night. Over 60 years ago Flagstaff established the world’s first regulations protecting the night sky and became the first International Dark-Sky City. These efforts inspired a global movement.

I made This Gun Shoots Moonbeams for Flagstaff’s Coconino Center for the Arts international juried exhibition: NightVisions: Cultural Interpretations of the Night Sky celebrating our deep connections with the night and encouraging protection of the region’s glorious star-filled skies.
